Scarfs, turtlenecks, and uggs–the basic fall wardrobe. Some might go so far as to call this style “basic girl autumn,” “boho chic girl,” or even “Rory Gilmore style,” based upon the popular TV show “Gilmore Girls.” Fall is back, and so are the typical fall clothing trends; however, this fall brings new fashion trends as well.
With temperatures dropping steadily, the need for layers of clothing increases. As temperatures plummet, leaves change colors, bringing an array of oranges, reds, and browns to our tree line. Clothing patterns follow the instructions of nature as seasons change throughout the year, bringing similar colors to the streets.
There are three fashion trends that we are particularly noticing this fall: suede leather, fur coats, and polka dots.
Suede leather is made from the underside of animal skin, providing thinner, warmer, and softer material. Additionally, it provides a beautiful accent to any outfit, most commonly paired with wide-leg jeans, other light fabrics (linen, silk, etc.), and layered shirts. Suede can be used in loafers, jackets, and most currently, bags. Vogue announced suede’s position as a leading material for 2025 bags, encouraging people to add this rich fabric to their outfits.
Paris, one of the four major fashion cities, is seeing fur coats as one of their most habitual trends for fall 2025, and the popularity of this trend has expanded globally. Faux fur is a bold statement for an outfit and allows people to express the confident attitudes that many find during the fall months. Let your clothes highlight your inner-self, and perhaps pair a beautiful faux fur coat with a sleek black outfit for the perfect fall look.
Stripes were the print of choice in 2022 and leopard print in 2024. 2025 is the year of polka dots. Many recent clothing lines feature dresses, skirts, tops, and accessories with polka dots. This pattern is the perfect mix of nostalgic childhood memories and elegant chic clothing. Find yourself a beautiful navy dress with white polka dots or a white jacket with black polka dots. No matter how you do polka dots, they are the perfect way to keep up with the trends this fall.
This fall is a time of casual elegance, comforting warmth, and unique beauty. But as always, the best thing you can wear is your own confidence and style—don’t let trends define you. Enjoy fashion in whichever way you prefer, and allow clothing to be a form of expression and art.
