Blue the Cat
Whether you are returning or you’re new to Grier, catching a glimpse of the campus cats is easily one of the highlights of most school days. You might have spotted a new furry face among the crew lately. The Cricket would like to officially introduce Blue, who is quickly becoming a beloved addition to the Grier community.
As students are already learning, Blue is an amazing cat with a vibrant personality that shines through in her interactions with the Grier students. Blue is the Grier family cat, and Mrs. Grier was glad to tell the Cricket more about this charismatic member of their household.

This pretty kitty is known by those on campus as Blue, but it turns out she goes by many different names. “Blue is her full legal name,” said Mrs. Grier, “but she often goes by Blue Blue, Blueberry, or just ‘cat.’”
At first glance, Blue’s tiny body and new appearance on campus might make her seem young – but do not let that fool you. “[She is] approximately 12, but like all ladies she likes to keep her exact age a mystery,” Mrs. Grier explained.

You’ll likely spot Blue wandering around campus, but she has her favorite haunts inside the Grier home as well. “Outside the house I see her all over campus,” Mrs. Grier said, “but inside she favors a few different spots that allow her to royally bask in sunshine or to tuck herself away in various little cat houses in our home.”
One of Blue’s most tempting features is her fluffy coat: a light grey body with dark grey accents around her face and legs. Mrs. Grier explained, “She is a ragdoll.” While that sounds like a toy name, it is actually a breed of cat with a silky coat and bright blue eyes.
And if anyone wants to pet her, they’re lucky because Blue is very welcoming to all. “[She is] extremely social,” said Mrs. Grier. “She believes everyone should give her pets at all times.” Next time you see Blue on campus, make sure to stop and give her a gentle pet–she’ll love it!
