An Open Letter to the 2024-2025 Entertainment Industry

To the arts and entertainment industry, I want to say thank you.

As we flip the calendar to May 2025, I can’t help but feel thankful for the chaos, color, and pure adrenaline rush that entertainment has brought us this past year. It’s been a season powered by young energy, big feelings, and the kind of cultural moments that had group chats and Tiktok For You pages (FYPs) buzzing.

TV—from “Suits LA” to “911,” to “Law & Order”—brought us cliffhangers, chaos, and comfort—all in one package. We also had many iconic yet heartfelt films coming in one after another including instant hits like “Wicked,” “Inside Out 2,”  “Gladiator,” “Anora,” “Challengers” and “One of Them Days.” It was just banger after banger.

But, it’s true, no moment truly hit harder than Beyoncé’s return. When her 2024 album “Cowboy Carter” dropped, it felt like the world stopped for a second. This wasn’t just a moment, it was a movement. Tracks like “TEXAS HOLD EM” “AMERICAN REQUIEM” and “16 CARRIAGES” became instant anthems. Unforgettable.

Let’s not forget the other music that ruled our earbuds and FYPs. From Drake’s breakout hit “NOKIA” to Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show, and SZA’s entire “SOS Lana” album, this year’s soundtrack was full of emotion, energy, and a whole lot of heart and soul.

Entertainment didn’t just give us things to watch or listen to—it gave us things to feel. It reminded us that being young is confusing and beautiful, funny and intense. Those stories about high school still matter. Art can make you feel seen—even if it’s just for a scene, a song, or a single scroll-stopping moment.

To the creators, performers, writers, musicians, dancers, directors, designers, and dreamers: thank you for giving us something to love and look forward to. You truly lit up our year. Here’s to what’s next and to whatever wild, brilliant, emotional stories come with it.

Thank you for letting me be your Arts & Entertainment Editor for this year and for being a part of making history. I had so much fun.
